Our window of opportunity for achieving SDG 2 — eradicating hunger and malnutrition and ensuring access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food for all by 2030 — is closing rapidly. However, far from moving closer to that goal, the world has seen a resurgence of hunger and food insecurity.

Building Capacity for Rwanda’s Agricultural Transformation

Rwanda’s Fourth Strategic Plan for Agricultural Transformation (PSTA IV) presents an ambitious plan to dramatically change the country’s agricultural sector and rural economy. Released in 2018, the plan forms a critical component of Vision 2050, which envisions Rwanda’s transformation into an upper middle income country by 2035 and a high income country by 2050.

Implementation strategy and roadmap

The 2014 Malabo Declaration reiterates African countries’ commitment toward attaining an agriculture revolution in the continent. A special commitment to “Mutual Accountability, Actions and Result” has been made to facilitate peer reviews, mutual learning and mutual accountability processes.

To translate commitments into actions and measurable results, AUC and NEPAD Agency developed an implementation strategy and roadmap to guide the implementation of CAADP and African agriculture development from 2015-2025.

Web Tool Tracks Agricultural Investments in Africa

The Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System - Eastern and Central Africa (ReSAKSS-ECA) has launched a new web tool to track investments made for African agriculture.

The new web tool, AgInvest Africa, was developed by ReSAKSS-ECA and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
